Board-Certified Dermatologist
Shawn Shih, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Geria Dermatology specializing in medical and cosmetic dermatology. He provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages and skin types, with particular expertise in acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and the treatment of skin of color.
Dr. Shih is known for his thoughtful, results-driven approach and often combines multiple treatment modalities to address complex skin concerns. For acne scars and hyperpigmentation, he develops customized treatment plans that may incorporate laser and energy-based devices, subcision, chemical peels, and other advanced procedures based on the patient’s skin type, concerns, and goals. In cosmetic dermatology, he also performs treatments including neuromodulators and dermal fillers, with an emphasis on achieving natural, individualized results.
Dr. Shih earned his bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and his medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency at Boston University, where his training included extensive experience in medical dermatology and exposure to leading experts in skin cancer, hair loss, and skin of color.
His academic and research interests have remained an important part of his career. Dr. Shih is a recipient of the Skin of Color Society Research Award, has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and serves as faculty in the Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Shih combines evidence-based medicine with the latest advances in procedural and cosmetic dermatology to create highly individualized treatment plans. His goal is to help patients understand their options and select treatments that address their concerns while maintaining the health and natural appearance of their skin.
