Below is a list of some of the more common skin conditions we treat and some suggested treatment methods that we offer.

Acne & Acne Scars

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples. Acne is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages and can be persistent, with pimples and bumps seeming to heal, once they begin to go away, others seem to crop up. Depending on its severity, acne can cause emotional distress and scar the skin. A series of treatments is often required, depending on the aesthetician’s assessment of your skin’s condition.

Pigmentation

Skin pigmentation is a common condition that occurs for numerous reasons, with causes that aren’t due to underlying disease. Discolorations such as Melasma, Brown Spots, Rosacea, and Vitiligo are examples of hyperpigmentation that occurs due to genetics, whereas some people can experience skin discoloration due to environmental issues. Regardless of the reasoning behind your pigmentation, there is a treatment out there for you!

Fine Line & Wrinkles

Fine lines that develop around the eye are often the first signs of aging because the muscles around the eyes get a good workout (from smiling, squinting, etc.). How wrinkled your skin becomes depends on many factors, including your skin type, genetics, and history of unprotected sun exposure and indoor tanning. People with fair skin who have a history of UV exposure are particularly susceptible to wrinkles, skin damage, and skin cancer.

Cellulite

Cellulite is a very common, harmless skin condition that causes lumpy, dimpled flesh on the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. Although the condition is most prevalent in women, many men also have to deal with having some cellulite. While little is known about what causes it, we do know that as fat cells accumulate, they tend to push up against the skin to create an uneven surface or dimpling. Weight gain can make cellulite more noticeable, but some lean people have cellulite, as well. An inactive lifestyle also can increase your chances of having cellulite, as can pregnancy, hormonal changes, and genetics.

Excess Body Hair

When it comes to excess body hair, there are typically two schools of thought: 1) “Body hair is natural and we should accept it”, or 2) “It’s gross and I don’t want it.” While both sides of the discussion can be considered “right”, if you find yourself not wanting to constantly shave as a way of removing your excess hair, there are several options to help get rid of it. These can be temporary but longer-lasting than routine maintenance, all the way to completely eradicating the hair follicle so you will never need to shave again!

Dry Skin

Nobody likes having dry skin. Feeling like a reptile cannot only damage your self-esteem but can also cause you discomfort. Unfortunately, dry skin can happen at any age and for many different reasons, but it primarily occurs when your skin loses too much water or oil. While keeping skin well moisturized typically improves dry skin, certain ingredients in creams and lotions can irritate other conditions like eczema. They also typically won’t clear the rough, red bumps associated with keratosis pilaris, which is why some patients may require alternative treatment methods.
