Frequently Asked Questions
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that appears as red patches on your nose and cheeks that may also spread to your forehead or chin. Although a newly-developed tendency to blush or flush more easily than before is often the first sign of rosacea, some people with the condition may also notice that it makes their ears, chest, or back red, too. Symptoms can also include red, swollen bumps that contain pus and resemble acne. Rosacea isn’t necessarily uncomfortable, but sometimes it can make skin feel sensitive, hot, raw, or tender. Because the condition is noticeable, long-lasting, and sometimes painful, it can affect your overall quality of life. Frustration, embarrassment, and low self-esteem are just a few of the issues brought on by living with severe rosacea.
Its exact causes remain mysterious, but medical researchers believe that genetics and immune system function may both play a role, along with specific environmental factors which may trigger or worsen the condition, including:
Sunlight, wind, and temperature extremes
Hot drinks, spicy foods, caffeine, and alcohol
Certain cosmetics and medications
Although anyone can develop rosacea, it’s most common among fair-skinned women between the ages of 30 and 60. Because rosacea is sometimes mistaken for eczema or allergies, proper treatment requires an accurate diagnosis.
There are three types of rosacea; it’s possible to have more than one type, and each type requires a different treatment plan.Erythematous rosacea – This condition involves easy flushing of the skin, which is often brought on by hot foods or drinks, alcohol, caffeine, exercising in the heat, or sun exposure. The best way to treat mild rosacea is by avoiding known triggers. If the redness becomes persistent, laser photorejuvenation treatments that target the blood vessels in your skin are often helpful. Using a green-tinted moisturizer may also help mask the redness.Papulopustular rosacea – Moderate rosacea, also known as papulopustular rosacea, is characterized by persistent redness. Small, red, pus-filled bumps may also appear. Treatments for this type of rosacea include topical creams, lotions, gels, and washes, as well as oral antibiotics, which can reduce surface bacteria and decrease inflammation.Phymatous rosacea – With the most advanced type of rosacea, your oil glands enlarge, causing a bulbous, red nose and puffy cheeks. Surgery is often the best treatment option for this type of rosacea.
My visit was exceptional. The waiting area was warm and cozy. Very clean and comfortable. The front staff was very friendly. They made you feel right at home. Zero wait time from my appointment time. The treatment room was no different. Beautiful rooms. Very clean and comfortable. The wait time to see the doctor was maybe 2 minutes. Dr. Geria took his time listening to my complaints and concerns. Dr. Geria really made me feel like I was a longtime friend or family. He really does care about his patients. Nothing but professionalism from the moment you walk in to the minute you leave
This place is fantastic, the office is seems to be brand new and extremely modern, the staff is very polite which is a hard thing to come by (usually staff at the front desk at most doctors offices are very rude, dismissive and unwilling to accommodate patients). Most importantly, the doctor. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable but he actually takes the time to delve deeper into my medical history to pinpoint exactly what might be contributing to my dermatologic issues. I will definitely continue to visit this practice in the future.
I’ve known Dr. Geria for several years. Not only is he an excellent doctor, he also has the best bedside manner and listens to my concerns. He had treated me for medical and some cosmetic treatments. I trust him completely. His staff is also amazing!
Dr. Geria is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced dermatologist. Making an appointment with his clinic is super easy via the online portal. His clinic is also very nicely done.
Amazing service. Amazing dermatologist . He spent a long time with me, talking about my needs and concerns. Dr Geria explained what he thought about my acne and scarring in detail. He wasn’t just in and out like some doctors can be. He took the time to analyze my skin and put together a plan of recommendations. Another bonus Hydrafacial – offered on site. Recommended by Dr Geria, my skin has never looked better. Amazing staff and a beautiful office. The prescriptions were sent over promptly also. 7 our of 5 stars.
