What Are Lip Fillers?
Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid based gels that smooth away wrinkles, enhance volume, reshape contours, and soften facial creases. At Geria Dermatology, there are different dermal fillers available to augment your lips. Restylane Kysse, Restylane Versa, and Restylane Silk can all be used, as can Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Volbella.
Am I a Good Candidate for Lip Fillers?
Lip fillers are formulated and marketed for patients age 21 or older. If you want to address your thinning lips and perioral lip lines (also called lipstick lines), then getting lip fillers is a good option. If you want to undergo a lip lift treatment but are not ready to commit to a surgical procedure, then getting lip injections is for you.
Ideal candidates for lip fillers must be in good overall health, have no known allergies to lidocaine, and have realistic expectations.
Your Lip Injections Consultation
Your consultation will involve a physical examination of your lip region. Discuss your aesthetic goals with our expert injector. You will also be asked about your medical history, current medical conditions, and medications. It is important to mention if you are taking blood thinners. Photographs wii be taken prior to your injection treatments for before-and-after comparison.
An expert injector at Geria Dermatology will look closely at the target areas. Your skin will then be disinfected and cleaned to minimize the chance of infection. Injection sites may be marked as a guide. This helps your injector deliver the injections according to your expected results.
Injections of the dermal fillers will be administered with care and precision. It requires skill and control to strategically deliver the substances to the lips. After all injections are administered, the markings will be removed.
Expect minor bruising and swelling in the first few days after your lip injections. Apply ice packs on the treated areas to alleviate discomfort. You can go back to your normal routines right away without downtime or recovery time. However, avoid any strenuous exercises in the first 24 to 48 hours. Elevated heart rate and blood flow can worsen the bruising and swelling.
Avoid applying lip products and makeup for 24 hours. Do not go into sauna rooms or take hot baths for the next few days after your treatment.
How Much Do Lip Fillers Cost?
The cost of lip fillers varies from one patient to another. The overall price depends on the number of syringes, and other procedures performed in combination with dermal fillers.
