What is Submental Fullness?
Submental fullness is a gathering of excess fat beneath the chin, commonly known as “double chin.” It can be something you’ve had your whole life due to genetics or start to appear as you get older or if you gain weight. It’s challenging to get rid of, but it is not impossible. Thanks to a treatment known as Kybella, you can finally say goodbye to that unsightly double chin.
What is Kybella?
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine and is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat). It is a minimally invasive injectable treatment that targets the fat accumulated below the chin.
How Does Kybella Work
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. As a result, you’ll experience a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile.
How Many Kybella Treatments are Needed to see Results?
After analyzing the current state of your facial profile, we will create a tailored treatment plan based on your chin profile. At each treatment, you will be given multiple small injections under your chin. You may receive up to 6 treatment sessions, spaced at least one1 month apart. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 KYBELLA® treatments. 59% of the patients received six6 treatments in clinical studies.
What are the Possible Side Effects of Kybella?
Kybella is a safe and effective treatment, but there are some common side effects that patients undergoing the procedure should know about. The most common side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These are not all of the possible side effects of KYBELLA®. They will be discussed in more detail during your consultation.
How Long Will Kybella Results Last
When injected into the fat under the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, no further treatment is necessary.
How Much Does Kybella Cost?
The cost of cosmetic treatments like Kybella varies from person to person. It depends on the amount needed to achieve the ideal result. During your consultation, we will discuss the details of the procedure, including the cost of your unique Kybella treatment.
You can also enroll in the Brilliant Distinctions ® Rewards Program to save money on KYBELLA® treatments. You earn points on each KYBELLA® treatment that you can redeem for savings on future treatments. You can also earn and redeem points on other selected treatments that your specialist may determine are right for you.
Are You a Candidate for Kybella?
An ideal candidate for Kybella is someone who wants to get rid of the submental fat causing the appearance of a double chin. Patients should be at least 18 years of age, in good physical health, and have realistic expectations about the results Kybella can produce.
